Showing Up For 20 Years
In 2005, when Friends of Oakland Animal Services (FOAS) first began, less than half of the animals at the shelter were being saved. Today, the save rate is over 90%.
More lives are being saved at OAS than ever before—a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together.
Your support helps keep that progress going. FOAS funds 14 critical staff positions that make up what we call the Outcome Team. This dedicated group works hand-in-hand with OAS staff, focused on one mission: getting animals out of the shelter and into loving homes.
And the impact is undeniable. Since these programs were introduced, the live release rate has increased from 82% to 93%, which translates annually to 2,200 more animals saved at OAS— a direct result of the programs and strategies this team has put into place.
